Comment: As a perpetually single person I am often told by others (usually, to nick a phrase from Bridget Jones, Smug Marrieds) that I shouldn't worry, there is someone out there for me and I'll meet them eventually. This song is about the kind of insanity I imagine would ensue if I really placed a lot of faith in that notion... It's not meant to be cynical about love per se, just about the notion of there being one perfect person out there with whom to live happily ever after. It seems a lot of people still believe in that, and I believe it causes a lot of unnecessary pain.
